Dr. Robert S. Weiner, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Constantine |
|
As the founding visionary of three commercial carpet companies, Dr. Weiner is integrally
involved in all aspects of the business from innovative patented modifications on
manufacturing equipment to guiding the direction on product development. He began
Constantine in 1995 initially as a high-end residential carpet company, and then
launched it into the commercial market in 1998. His hands-on approach and pioneering
mindset has undoubtedly been the key to creating a unique company that breaks the
boundaries in aesthetics of tufted carpet, seeks innovation in every way possible,
and has become one of the fastest growing in its industry. From 1985 to 1994, Dr.
Weiner founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Prince Street until
selling it to Interface in 1994. From 1980 to 1985, Dr. Weiner founded and served
as the Chief Executive Officer of Harbinger. From 1969 to 1980 Dr. Weiner was employed
by Rohm & Haas Company where he served as Technical Director and also worked
in that company's fiber research and developed and commercialized X-static, a synthetic
fiber that significantly reduces static electricity in carpets. X-static and similar
products are now incorporated into almost every rug or carpet manufactured in the
U.S. Dr. Weiner graduated from Purdue University with a Master of Science degree
in 1966 and Ph.D. in 1969.
